The MEMOLUB® EPC is an externally controlled electromechanical lubricator that can be installed on a single lube point or coupled with a progressive distribution valve to lubricate from 2 to 12 points. This model can be wired to an external switch, relay or PLC to give you the on/off lubrication required for intermittently used equipment.

Memolub EPC Pillow Block

The MEMOLUB® EPC lubricator automatically delivers a small, precise amount of lubricant at regular intervals for an continuous supply of fresh lubricant directly to your lube point. Prevents over and under lubrication problems related to manual lubrication.

Memolub EPC - Pillow Block Bearing

All MEMOLUB® EPC models use the same motor base assembly, making it easy to convert from one lubricant capacity to another by simply purchasing a low cost transparent housing kit.

The on/off function of the MEMOLUB® EPC is controlled by an external switch. The 12 inch cable that extends from the bottom of the lubricator serves to interrupt the electric circuit to the drive motor. When a switch or relay closes the circuit, the MEMOLUB® EPC first goes through an output cycle and then proceeds to operate under its own preset program control. When the circuit is opened the lubrication process stops

Simple MEMO Programming

The MEMOLUB® EPC lubricant output is programmed using the simple MEMO system. It consists of a brass MEMO fitting, a black plastic timing-ring holder, and three plastic timing rings (one white, one red, and one black). The MEMO can be programmed to control both the frequency of lube cycles and the volume of lubricant discharged. Once the MEMO is programmed and installed any MEMOLUB® EPC lubricator will recognize the settings. The program settings can be changed at any time, should your application require more or less lubricant.

Basic Frequency Settings

There are 7 basic frequency settings that are suitable for most industrial applications.  They are programmed by installing one or a combination of the three colored timing rings into the ring holder attached to the brass fitting. When you screw the MEMOLUB® lubricator onto the brass fitting, the timing rings depress the switches on the bottom of the lubricator. This activates the lubricator program.

Note: The "Months to Empty" is based on continuous use of the MEMOLUB® EPC lubricator. The lubricant cartridge will last longer with intermittent use.

Adjusting the Volume of Lubricant

Included in the MEMO kit is eight spacer washers for adjusting the amount of lubricant discharged per lube cycle. Installing one, or a combination of all eight washers, into the brass MEMO fitting will limit the stroke length of the piston inside the lubricator.

  1. Lower temperatures can be achieved by using a low temperature grease and cold-weather battery packs
  2. Splitter Blocks cannot be used with oil, and are limited to 7 lubricant output settings.
  3. Maximum lube line length is dependent on ambient temperature, grease type and application back pressure.

Background:
Equipment was previously being manually lubricated with a grease gun. Depending on what maintenance tech performed the task, over- and under-lubrication were common-place, if done at all. Over-lubrication was especially a problem because often bearings were pushed out of the linear slides, caus-ing premature failure. The customer would spend thousands annually in repair costs as a result.
Solution:
We installed 2 MEMOLUB® ONE single-point lubricators per palletiser to supply constant lubrication to the linear slide bearings. Pro-gramming the lubricators to dispense per the manufacturer’s specs removed human inconsistency from the maintenance equa-tion thereby extending bearing life. An add-ed bonus was the ability to lubricate while the equipment is still in operation.
Results:
Reduced downtime and extended bearing life.
